Ooyala: Prelaunch Video Startup Founded By Google Evacuees Busting At Seams
Mountain View-base Ooyala is hiring like mad by pre-launch standards - with about 5 openings in engineering and 5 in ad sales - and is opening offices in New York and LA before launch. The startup has raised funding but is in stealth mode so is not saying who or how much nor what the hell they are doing other than video. Ooyala was founded by Bismarck Lepe and Sean Knapp. Lepe is fully vested having worked at Google for over 4 years. He was a key Adwords exec.
Update - The Deal find that Ooyala has raised $10M. A founder tells Gigaom that ooyala has raised “a large round of funding” and it plans to release a beta version of its online/offline video application in early July.
