Or MSFT Might Buy Ad Exchange AdECN

adecn.png
The NY Post continues to publish speculation on online ad industry buyouts. The storyline today is that Microsoft may go ahead with a buyout of Yahoo.

We understand from a reliable source that Microsoft's corporate development guys spent time in Santa Barbara last week for talks with small, VC-funded ad exchange AdECN. The team then flew out to Paris to close its deal with mobile ad startup ScreenTonic.

If buying Yahoo was a done deal, we don't think that Microsoft would continue to exert energy on these small deals, especially if they are redundant (Yahoo now owns Right Media so Microsoft wouldn't need AdECN if it owned Yahoo.
