Quattro Wireless Gains Funding For Mobile Ads Marketplace

To some extent Quattro Wireless will compete with other online ad exchanges like AdMob. However, the Waltham, MA-based startup has gone a step further by developing software that will do the conversion for publishers of their Web content to fit into the confines of the mobile phone.

This fall, the company says it will launch GetMobile.com, which will be able to take any website and find a way to squish it onto a cellphone screen without stripping content. On the publisher sales side, the company launched a mobile portal for Univision Móvil, featuring breaking news, music, horoscopes, and entertainment on a simple mobile website. And on the advertiser sales side, the company has developed a mobile ad campaign for Procter & Gamble's CoverGirl cosmetics line that allows teenagers to find makeup that matches their skin tone and fashion choices.

Quattro just raised $6M in Series A funding from Highland Capital Partners. The startup is run by former m-Qube executives (CEO Andrew Miller was previously SVP for BD at m-Qube and CTO Eswar Priyadarshan was formerly an m-Qube executive). m-Qube is a mobile content company that was sold to VeriSign last year for $250M.
