Rumor: CBS Wins Lindsay By Buying WallStrip

wallstrip.png
We have an old connection to Jossip (they did the tech magic to launch this site years ago), so we hope the tech rumor they are reporting is accurate and that indeed CBS is buying WallStrip for $5M.

Already the response to the rumor is negative. The backstory is that VC Fred Wilson invested $500K into WallStrip and made intros to The Street.com which began promoting the videos. By our estimate, the site never found a rabid audience although many seem to feel that host Lindsay Campbell is fetching.

So why wouldn't folks want to see WallStrip sold for $5M? Because it feels like a bubble deal as WallStrip has no revenues and not a huge amount of traffic. Some might feel that the game is rigged and Fred Wilson called a favor with CBS's online deal-maker Quincy Smith to get a deal done quickly.
