Stanford Professor Takes $8M From Personal Bank Account Into Indian Hand-writing Recognition Startup

Thomas Binford, Chairman & CTO of Read Ink in Bangalore has put in $8M of his own money so far into his startup, according to a report from BusinessWorld.

The 70-year old Stanford professor set up Read Ink in 2002. It works on handwriting recognition and document analysis.
Binford says they are close to signing their first customer. He says his handwriting recognition product is better than other software products on the market. "Current products have an accuracy rate of 80-85%, he suggest, whereas Read Ink will deliver a 5-7% improvement," said Mr. Binford.
