Startups at D Event
The Wall Street Journal Event D is going off in SoCal this week. This is mostly an event to get big hitters like Bill Gates and Les Moonves in a room together but some private companies stood out:
+ Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington got her book "On Becoming Fearless…in Love, Work and Life" into the freebie bag that was given out The a:c asks, whos is Arianna in love with? Arriana also got attention as Huffington Post launched a business section.

Arrinna Huffington Sells it.
+ Oakland-based Livescribe got a demo and press coverage in the WSJ and elsehwere. This is a company that has developed a pen-based in-put device. Big media always loves to cover new input devices for some reason but these things never seem to catch on.
+ Steve Case is also giving a prezo on his new healthcare media startup called Revolution. Does this thing really need any more publicity?
+ Mahalo, is a site being launched by Jason Calacanis at the event. Mahalo greased the walls by being an event sponsor. It gave away a package of daisy seeds. Thanks big spender!
+ Microsoft legend's Intentional software is doing a demo that will probably go over the heads of many in the audience. The company says it is "perfecting relationships linked to software, by recording the tremendous latent value of business domain and programming intentions in processable form and transforming them into the intended software. " For every problem they're asked to tackle programmers will create generic tools that the computer users themselves can modify to guide the software's future evolution. Better see the demo to see how that looks.
