The HomeAway Vacation Rental Rollup Continues

vacation rental .png
VC-backed, Austin, Texas-based HomeAway has acquired VacationRentals.com. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. HomeAway has been steadily rolling up a network of vacation rental properties. The list now includes:
HomeAway.com, VRBO.com, CyberRentals.com, GreatRentals.com, A1Vacations.com, TripHomes.com, Holiday-Rentals.co.uk, HolidayRentals.fr, FeWo-direkt.de, HomeAway.es and Abritel.fr.

Homeaway's venture backers are Austin Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, American Capital, Institutional Venture Partners and Trident Capital.

We have used several of these sites and find them valuable but are always surprised about their primitive UIs. With all of the Web 2.0 innovation going with photos, videos, widgets, and so on these sites in contrast look stagnant and primitive.
