VCs Back WeFi For WiFi Location Network

wefi.png
Lightspeed and Pitango haved backed WeFi, an Israeli-based start-up which combines social/Web with wireless and with location-based services. We appreciate what they are up to as we often find ourselves frustrated by efforts to locate accessible WiFi signals. Jiwire and other WiFi finders have been innacurate in our experience. With WeFi you can find WiFi connections are in your vicinity, specifying open and restricted connections. As you add friends to your WeFi profile, you can see friends that are online in your vicinity as well (a function that reminds us of Google's Dodgeball).

Mashable points out that both radiusIM and Skyhook offer similar social capabilities, finding friends based on their locations.
