Veotag Seed Funded For Video Tagging

veotag.png
We have a hard time believing that the largest Internet companies have not tried to give users the ability to easily tag their video and audio but upon some research it seems that there is much room for improvement here and several startups are having a whack at it. Some video search engines have been launched to interpret videos, but Veotag would have creators insert tags to describe videos and their sections. Plus Veotag competes directly with other video tagging services like MotionBox, Viddler, Vimeo and Click.tv.

NYC-based Veotag tells us that they have raised $750K in angel funding. The company was founded in May 2006. The round was funded by Paul Gelburd, Managing Partner of Tam Partners, who led a group of angel investors. Gelburd was formerly head of the San Francisco office of GE Equity. Also, on-board was William O. Perkins, III, founder and manager of Small Ventures USA, a Houston-based venture capital and private equity firm.

With a little work by the video creator, Veotag can enhance online video or audio files so audiences can read what's inside it and can click to advance to what they want to see or hear.

Here are some examples:
+ Guy Kawasaki interview with Steve Wozniak

+ Jazz at Lincoln Center distance learning class

+ Podcast (audio only)

Veotag is free when ad supported but charged $1K per year for business use and $10K for enterprise use.
