Avvo Better Get A Good Lawyer. Legal Startup Hit With Class Action Law Suit

avvo.png
It's hard to see what Seattle class action Attorney Steve Berman is so worked up about given that newly launched attorney rating site Avvo gives him a "suberb "grade. But Berman has filed a class action suit in federal court and says he is considering a temporary restraining order to limit Avvo's service in the near term. It amazes us that Berman was able to get the suit filed after Avvo has only launched its site 10 days earlier.

The CEO of Avvo, which is backed by $13M from Benchmark Capital and Ignition Partners, has blogged about the startup's right to rate lawyers. Berman also said that he is thinking about adding attorneys with "impeccable reputations" to suit in order to counter Avvo's claims that this is about one pissed off attorney. Indeed as we posted on last week, Avvo's launch was noted for its numerous rating errors so it won't be hard to find qualaity lawyers who have been rated poorly.
