News Aggregator DayLife Raises $8.5M

daylife.png
DayLife, a NYC-based news agregator, has raised an additional $8.5M. Daylife was seeded with much fanfare by blogger angel investors like Michael Arrington and Jeff Jarvis, but its launch was not a success. The company appears to be rebuilding as a new aggregation tool via an API. In this round it raised $8M from previous investor the New York Times along with new investors Arts Alliance Digital Ventures and Balderton Capital, according to SEC filings, dug up by PEHub.

Daylife is led by Upendra Shardanand, who developed personalization software called Fireflay while he was as an undergraduate at MIT The startup sold to Microsoft for $40M.
