OpenRoads.TV Launches On Web W/ Repurposed TV Travelogue Vids

openroad.tv.png
If you have ever lived in the Bay Area and own a TV chances are you have caught an episode or two of the KRON-run program Bay Area Backroads. Launched in 1993, Backroads is a regional travelogue for weekend destinations close to San Francisco.

The program's host, Doug McConnell, and his producer, Carl Bidleman, have teamed on a new video site called OpenRoads.TV that more or less repurposes more than a decade of travel video for the web. They secured the rights for the video from KRON two years ago and now that Web video is hot they have timed the launch well.

The startup says that it has raised $500K in angel funding in two rounds led by angel investor Jim Wirth.
