South Africa's Synthasite Launches With Seed Funding For Blog Platform

synthasite.png
As it happens, dissatisfaction with our own Movable Type platform has us spending our few spare minutes looking at other blog platforms. Several have gained funding recently to build next generation, brower-based blog platforms. That's just what we need. No more FTPing time waste, no more systems that didn't contemplate the basics of blogging like comment spam.

Indeed Synthasite looks terrific. The company's story is much more complicated than our headline here lets on. It is being spun out of a South African search engine marketing company called Incubeta and is moving to Silicon Valley to be amongst the people. Incubeta raised $3.5M in funding from Mark Shuttleworth, the Bill Gates of South Africa - that is if Bill Gates also traveled to space as Shuttleworth did.
Synthasite is currently being seed funded by Lingham Capital, incuBeta & Miombo Capital, all South African based investment firms.

Synthasite will compete with the older site creation companies, as well as the newly funded Weebly, as well as with mashup creators, as that is where the company says it is headed with future versions.
