User Gen Review Startup Viewpoints.com Gets First Funding

Power Reviews has done very well offering eCommerce sites an option to power their product review areas.

Out of Chicago comes a new competitor called Viewpoints.com which has raised $5M in Series A. Illinois Innovation Accelerator Fund was joined by local angels Joe Mansueto (founder & CEO of Morningstar), Matt McCall (co-founder and managing director of DFJ and Portage Venture Partners) Lon Chow (Partner with Apex Venture Partners) and J.B. Pritzker (founder of New World Ventures and CEO of The Pritzker Group.

Viewpoints is led by CEO and founder Matt Moog who was CEO of Q Interactive/CoolSavings which went pubic and and then went private in a sale to Landmark Communications.

Viewpoints appears to be different from PowerReviews in that it is more consumer focussed and wants to be a destination site, whereas the primary customer for Power Reviews are eCommerce sites that want reviews, and PowerReviews.com is not a destination.

I am a big fan of ViewPoints.com since you can practically review ANYTHING! I am also a frequent user of other review websites such as http://www.ReviewPage.com and http://www.InsiderPages.com. Keep up the good work ViewPoints!
