LA's Docstoc Raises Funding To Compete With Scribd

doctstoc.png
Pre-launch Docstoc.com is a free online document exchange database and social networking site that allows users to store, search, and share most any type of document (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF, Illustrator, and so on). Docstoc will have users post, categorize, and rate documents that can be reused by other users for a variety of purposes. Like its competitor Scribd, Docstoc casts itself as being to documents what Flickr is for photos and YouTube is for videos.

Scribd has been a surprise success, having raised $3.5M from angels and Redpoint Ventures. Docstoc is led by Jason Nazar who was Partner at Venature Capital and Consulting.

Now Docstoc has raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding, according to its job posts.
