Compete Ups Ante With $10M In Funding

compete.com.png
As researchers feel burned time and again by Alexa searchers they found a savior in Compete.com, which while is has a long way to go to be spot on, marks an improvement in free site traffic data over Alexa. The company has been around a while and started as more of a pricy analytics company that might compete with comScore but it really got traction in November 2006 when it launched free data.

Today Compete has raised another round of funding at $10M in Series III funding from return backers Charles River Ventures, idealab, Split Rock Partners and William Blair Capital Partners. Compete has raised $43M since 2000.

Like Alexa, Compete.com has a great blog that breaks-down traffic dramas.
