Korean/Los Angeles Frozen Yogurt Purveyor Red Mango Funded

A friend from LA was telling us about the new sensation in his town over the Korean born Red Mango frozen yogurt business. He says its over-rated and is disappointed that they only have two flavors - plain and green tea. But he says their simple marketing plan is genius. At any time of day there is a line out the door, which makes people wonder what the fuss is about and so they stop their cars and get in line. Our buddy says the reason for the line is that Red Mango places their counter right at the door.

Red Mango USA has now raised a round of venture capital from Stone Canyon Venture Partners. Amount of the investment has not been disclosed.

UPDATE: Readers point us to Red Mango's direct competitor, Pink Berry, which has expanded quickly on the same model as Red Mango, down to building lines out the door.
