MSFT To Buy Enterprise Chat's Parlano

Microsoft says it is buying Chicago-based Parlano, which sells MindAlign enterprise group chat application. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Parlano was founded in 2000 and is backed by Longworth Venture Partners and Oak Investment Partners. Parlano, a firm spun off from global bank UBS, which built MindAlign as a secure application to enable employees to interact via group chat. Microsoft said it will add the MindAlign to the next version of its Office suite which will combine email, telephone, IM and web conferencing.
