3D World Creator Media Machines Gets 1st Funding

With the smash success of Second Life, Habbo Hotel and a number of other 3D world around the world, the folks at Media Machines must be doing some soul searching. The company was founded after all in 2001 and one its founders Tony Parisi can lay claim to be a founding father of 3D world building. Meanwhile, Media Machines has waited in the wings.

To catch up, Media Machines has raised $9.4M in its first round of funding, says PEHub, in a round was led by Mohr Davidow Ventures.

Rather than create a virtual world itself, Media Machines has developed a 3D world engine that others can license.
