Back From The Dead, On24 Plans IPO

on24.png
San Francisco-based On24 was early to the Internet video scene, launching back in 1998 as an online financial news channel selling original content to investors. The company raised enough capital - - to slog through the down years, playing it smart by reducing headcount and remaking its strategy.

Today the company sells video based lead generation to large companies. It claims 600 customers and it it managed over 12K webcasts last year. On24's CEO says he expects to do $30-$40M in revenues this year. In an interview this week, the company's CEO says he expects to do an IPO in the next 2 years.

B2B Internet video is a nice place to be, far away from the killing B2C competition and the in-your-face success of YouTube.

On24 should hurry up with their IPO as their offering is overpriced and not competitive with Citrix' offering of gotowebinar. As with many services, when the buyers are new and dont know left from right, the eraly providers can overcharge (e.g. IBM being the first to offer the PC). But the riches dont last.
