locamoda.png
Out of home digital signage is a big trend. Bay State-based LocaModa wants to take it a step further by enabling people to interactive with out of home signage via their cell phones. It will combine Wi-Fi hot-spots, narrowcast digital signage, and IP-based entertainment networks (jukeboxes to cinemas). The idea is that mall-goers can use their cell phones to play games or get information that would be displayed on flat panels. An example site owned and operated by LocaModa is Wiffiti.

LocaModa has raised $6.18M in Series A funding, according to a pehub. Shareholders include Dace Ventures, Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance Ports & Terminals. Among LocaModa's products is something called Wiffiti (wireless graffiti), in which coffee shop patrons can send text messages to large screens. The startup was founded by Stephen Randall, former EVP/Founder of Symbian.
