Game Maker Watch: Finland's Recoil Games And Austin's Kingsisle

Helskinki-based Recoil Games plans to launch an action game called Earth No More in 2009 that looks like it will be killer. Recoil Games was founded by Max Payne creator Samuli Syvähuoko. The company has been funded and has a partnership with 3D Realms Entertainment. It plans to grow its staff to 50 who will launch the product on Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and PCs. With this game and others, Recoil will focus on "the creation of action games with the scope, feel and ensemble cast of disaster movies."

Meanwhile, over in Austin, TX, Kingsisle has raised funding for its MMOG. Kinsisle is led by Elie Akilian who co-founded Inet Technologies in 1989, and took the company public in 1999. Kingsisle is currently working on launching two games. Their idea is to create MMOGs that appeal to a broader audience than the current fare.
