Israeli Virtual TV Network RayV Raises $8M

rayv.png
What's a virtual TV network? That's what stealth-mode start-up RayV calls itself. We learn that RAYV plans to offer a new way for "consumers to find, review, and talk about local businesses. A cross between a web-based social community and an online business directory, RAYV is where people go to express their opinions on any type of local business and get recommendations from a trusted source – their peers." Another self description goes: “ TV - real, live, 24-hour TV channels - at TV quality. For the PC, for the TV. For anyone to watch... and for anyone to broadcast. At no cost." And yet another description: RayV is developing "proprietary internet protocols forming a generic grid network, enabling anyone to broadcast LIVE TV to an unlimited amount of concurrent viewers at zero cost."

It is fun to see so many video startups coming out of Israel with MetaCafe leading the way along with BlogTV, RayV and others.

RayV has raised $8M in a 2nd financing round from Accel Partners.
