Switch Hitter Bittorrent Now Favors B2B Stance

bittorrent.png
The biggest mistake made by streaming video's Bittorrent is that it thinks it can do both B2B and B2C. Its a tough proposition if you are say Amazon and you'd like to license Bittorrent technology but you see that they are also selling straight to the consumer. Larger companies can get away with such practices but few startups can and should attempt it. For starters, what is the company management DNA? B2B and B2C people often can't hold a conversation together.

BitTorrent today made announcements that signal that it is now favoring its B2B stance. Last week the company launched its B2B platform and now it has announced that its founder Bram Cohen is ceding the CEO title to newcomer Doug Walker who comes from IBM, Sun and SGI. Cohen takes the title of Chief Scientist.

We suspect that the new guard will view BitTorrent's consumer site as a headache and we wonder how long it will last. The site cannot be pulling in too much money or BitTorrent likely would not have made the management changes.
