red bird.png
You gotta love baseball manager Tony LaRussa. Born in 1994, he still can play like a kid with the best of them, showing up for rock shows as well as launching a film startup called RedBird Cinema (a reference to his affiliation with the St. Louis Cardinals).

Today Sandlot Venture Group said it would fund Red Bird's future films. First up is a feature film based on boxing's, Sugar Ray Leonard based on a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize winning author Buzz Bissinger. After that they plan to produce "Three Nights In August," a screenplay based on Bissinger's bestseller about the 2006 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals and its manager Tony La Russa.

Based in Los Gatos, Sandlot Venture Group has raised $25M primarily from Silicon Valley angels who want to invest in film production with an eye on new digital distribution strategies.
