Facebook Eating Away At Porn Consumption

Visits to porn sites by all US Internet users fell to 11.9% in the last week of October 2007, down from 16.9% in October 2005, says Hitwise which connects the dots to increased social network usage by young adults (a top consumer of online porn).

Hitwise data shows that time spent on social networks accounted for the most site visits among 18- to 24-year-olds during the last week of October 2007, followed by search engines, Web-based e-mail and porn.

"Social networking sites have not only usurped porn in popularity, but they've also gobbled up time Gen Yers used to spend on traditional e-mail and IM," writes Hitwise.
