Human Powered Search's ChaCha Raises Further $10M

chacha.png
We are not ChaCha boosters. Sure search is a huge biz and if you can just land a tenth of a percent of search traffic you've got a winner. Moreover, if you show any traction maybe one of the bigs will offer to buy you.

Having said that, we still don't get why people would use ChaCha. Supporting that are data showing that very few people use Chacha. To be fair, CEO Scott Jones only gets going in earnest in 2008 when it plans to launched a mobile search service that uses human guides to answer questions by voice, text message, or mobile web.

In the latest round announced today, Morton Meyerson, a former top exec at Perot Systems and EDS, is putting up $8M. The remaining $2M is a grant from Indiana's 21st Century Technology Fund. He joins Jeff Bezos and others who invested in a prior round.
