OpenAds Raises $15.5M For Open Source Ad Server

openads.png
We continue to hear mixed reviews of OpenAds. The open source ad server is synonymous with snails, molayses and sloths. But OpenAds continues to find new users - it counts 300K users. Reasons that we have heard why people user OpenAds is that if you want to hack an ad server OpenAds is the best one as its is open source. Also, other top ad servers like Doubleclick Dart charge a small percentage of revenues. This works great for publishers that get high CPMs but if you get high volume but low payouts, your Dart payments can feel painful.

So some top VC firms are evidently excited about OpenAds. They’re also announcing private beta release of hosted version of OpenAds. The London-based firm has just announced that it has raised $15.5M in Series B. Investors are Accel Partners with Index Ventures, Mangrove Capital Partners, First Round Capital and O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures.

BTW - CNET says this is a major up-round for OpenAds and we wouldn't doubt that.
