Germany's Burda Invests in Canadian Social Networking Outfit Nexopia

nexopia.png
Nexopia.com lays claims to be Canada's largest social networking site for youth with over 1.2M registered members and over 1B pages served per month. Nexopia says it raised "several million dollars" from Burda Digital Ventures, the venture capital arm of Hubert Burda Media. Nexopia is led by Boris Wertz, who was COO of Abe Books and more recently CEO at W Media Ventures. Nexopia was founded four years ago by 18 year old Timo Ewalds and has its HQ in Edmonton, home to the Oilers.

Over 95% of its users are Canadian and the site is particularly popular in western Canada. The site makes a living by charging up to $30 additional for premium storage service.
