Martha Stewart Takes 40% Stake in WeddingWire
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (NYSE: MSO) says it has paid an undisclosed amount for a 40% stake in WeddingWire, which includes commercial agreement related to software and content licensing and media
sales. That means that other Martha Stewart sites will use WeddingWire's technology and content and in turn WeddingWire will get content from Martha Stewart. Martha Stewart ad sales will also sell WeddingWire inventory.
Founded in January 2006, WeddingWire has created what it calls a hyper-locale wedding marketplace. The firm was founded by Timothy Chi, who had co-founded Blackboard Inc. The platform aims to help brides and grooms to research and get price quotes from vendors in their area on flowers, music and so on. It also has tools to create a wedding website, as well as to manage wedding budgets, guest lists, and seating charts.

D'Groove Band is the highest rated wedding band in San Francisco, although it only scored one vote.
This deal seems like a good one for both parties. WeddingWire is sharp but the content and choices are still a bit thin. If Martha can manage to build a name for it it could be the leader in this area.
