Instructional Video Startup Mindbites Raises $1M

Austin, TX-based MindBites.com, a social marketplace and publishing platform for instructional video, has raised $1M in Series A from True Ventures. MindBites has a paid model where once a lesson is purchased, using credits priced from $1.69 to $1.99, users can watch it online or download it to their PC or iPod.

We have covered a number of MIndBites' competitors including 5MIn, VideoJug, ExpertVillage and Howcast.

The startup's founder and CEO is Jason Reneau who was VP at both Freemarkets and Kiva.
