LA's Generate Raises $6M. Names Former WB Networks CEO Its Lead

Founded over 2 years ago, LA's Generate has raised $6M in first-round funding, co-led by Velocity Interactive Group and MK Capital. Generate is a cross-platform content production, talent management and strategic consulting company.

Jordan Levin is now CEO. Levin spent a decade at The WB broadcast network culminating with his appointment as the youngest CEO in broadcast TV history. Levin replaced Jamie Kellner as CEO of The WB. He joined the network before its January 1995 launch as part of the founding exec group and rose to become President, Entertainment by the time he was 33.

Venture capital continues to show interest in such Hollywood meets The Internet ventures. Just this week, we saw a new alliance between the William Morris Agency, Accel Partners and Venrock, and mobile carrier AT&T. The fund aims to invest as little as $250K on So Cal startups ranging from mobile software to social networks. The fund will be in the tens of millions of dollars and will be led by Richard Wolpert, former president of Disney Online and former chief strategy officer at RealNetworks.
