Wellness Drug Store Pharmaca Raises $20M

pharmaca.png
Boulder-based Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy has raised $20M, bringing its total nut to $45.5M. The round was led by Highland Capital Partners, and also included the Highland Consumer Fund and Physic Ventures.

Pharmaca has built a retail chain of pharmacies in spendy suburbs like Los Gatos and Monterey. Its marketing pitch is cast as "integrative medicine." If you haven't dropped in, picture the drugs and wellness products section at Whole Foods, only much larger. It competes with Elephant Pharm. Pharmaca said it expects to add 12 stores per year to its existing 20 stores.
