ESPN Founder's CollegeFanz Closes First Round

ESPN founder Bill Rasmussen is having a tough time getting traction on his sports social network CollegeFanz. Of course the guy can still find people who will invest. The startup put out an odd announcement today boasting that it had completed its Series A, but didn't name any investors or site an amount. CollegeFanz had told PaidContent back in September that the raised $500K to $1M from the Musser Group.
We spent some time on the site and have no beef with it, it's just that the competition is stiff from other sites that have been around longer and that have distribution deals and passionate supporters. CollegeFanz has none of that.
