IBM Pays $200M for Israeli Storage Firm Diligent

IBM has paid $200M for Israel-based Diligent Technologies, reports Israeli newspaper Globes. Diligent sells de-duplication technology, a technique for saving storage space by eliminating redundant data, such as multiple copies of the same e-mail attachment within an e-mail archive.

The deal is the third storage-related grab by IBM in just the past few months, following its moves to acquire XIV and FilesX, also Israeli firms.

Diligent Technologies has raise $50M from EMC, Accel Partners, Gemini Israel Funds, Eastward Capital Partners , and Matrix Partners.
