On The Funding Trail: Health Care Recruitment's Azteria

Bend, OR-based Azteria is making the rounds to make its first outside investment. Founded four years ago, Azteria has launched a Web-based platform to match hospital demands for nurses with nurses by their areas of specialization and skill sets. Key for Azteria is that they don't need the nation's nurses to login and create profiles rather data on nurses is already available and has been populated and updated on Azteria.
Azteria Co-founder Lloyd Fassett, who previously ran a nurse recruitment firm tells us that Azteria is a logical substitute for the nurse recruitment sector. Rather than pay 30% of a nurse's first year salary, hospitals might turn to Azteria to achieve the similar results for a 5% cut. Fassett claims that Azteria currently has 2500 jobs paid to fill and the company is at break-even.
Given that there are about 30K hospital and health care centers in the US, Azteria's funding would go to market and sell to this base of potential customers as well as to make technical improvements to the platform.
