Realtime Worlds, which is based in Dundee, Scotland and Boulder, CO has raised $50M in Series B led by Maverick Capital. NEA had raised $31M from NEA.

This is of course a great deal of capital for a games company. But Realtime Worlds is no run-of-the-mill studio.

Realtime has done an exclusive partnership with Microsoft Game Studios and launched its first title, Crackdown, on Xbox 360 in early 2007. It sold about 1.4M copies. The firm was founded by in 2002 by Grand Theft Auto creator Dave Jones and now has 200 employees.

Realtime Worlds' current major product is All Points Bulletin, an urban action, massively multiplayer online game.
