Mobile Marketing's 5th Finger Raises $7M

5th finger.png
San Francisco's 5th Finger has raised $7M from the Australian VC firm, Starfish Ventures. The Aussi connection is that the company's co-founder Patrick Collins is an Aussi and the startup moved to the US in January 2008.

Mobile marketing remains in an infant stage so 5th Finger seems to have glommed onto mobile marketing at events like Live Earth where visitors did something fairly pointless in our eyes - sent pledges that they would change their behavior via SMS. Still it seems like a sensible approach to prove that the idea and platform can work in large numbers.

Among 5th Finger's mobile marketing campaigns was this one for Jim Beam - because fast cars and bourbon fit like hand in glove.
