Buzzfeed Taps Butt Cleavage Fashion For $3.5M Round

buzzfeed.png
NYC's BuzzFeed has raised $3.5M in its first round from Hearst Interactive Media and Softbank.

BuzzFeed was founded in October 2006 and now has 1M unique monthly visitors. It was founded as a side project by Jonas Peretti who also co-founded Huffington Post and Eyebeam OpenLab.

Watching CNN lately they have been regularly highlighting viral videos and other net events. The idea behind Buzzfeed is to pounce on these memes early. They are currently touting stories on butt cleavage fashion.

Buzzfeed has too many competitors to track, including Yahoo Buzz Index, Digg, etc.
