China's VC Industry Raises More Than US$3B in in Q2

With the Olympics coming up, we believe there will be a lot of coverage of the Chinese startup economy as there are so many good stories to tell.

Zero2IPO Research Center tracked 29 domestic and foreign VC firms which established 40 funds during Q2'08. This figure represents US$3.02B of capital available for investing in Mainland China marking a record high for a single quarter. 159 Chinese startups raised funding totaling US$1.20B. This was a significant uptick compared to Q2'07 with the number of deals and the disclosed investment amount increasing 31.4% and 73.5% respectively.
