DriverSide Funded For Auto Site At Outset of Car Buying Slump

driverside.png
SF-based DriverSide has launched and says it received its first round of funding from Catamount Ventures. The startup makes the statement that "DriverSide is the first Web site specifically designed for automobile owners." Why do marketers make statements like this? Who are the thousands of other sites out there designed for if not the auto owner then?

At any rate the site is sharp looking and unlike many other car portals it does link out to other sites. You can get anything here from links to new and used cars as well is links to where to get your car serviced. There is nothing ground-breaking here but other sites like AutoSpies have come out of nowhere to capture good traffic. The business model here is based on advertising it seems. We like this but from what we understand the rates that car sites can charge has plummeted due to the car slump.

The startup was founded by San Francisco socialite Trevor Traina who runs Traina Capital and was Chairman at StepUp Commerce.
