Camera Software Maker Refocus Imaging Raises $1M

Mountain View's Refocus Imaging has raised $250,000 in Series A funding led by Greylock. The startup is led by President and CEO of Ren Ng who has been on the farm at Stanford since 1997 earning a BS in Math a PhD on Computers and a business degree to boot.
Refocus is developing what is says will be the most advanced digital cameras in the world. "By recording and processing the entire light field, not just an ordinary picture, Refocus' technology transforms imaging hardware into software. This frees physical limitations, and enables capabilities previously thought impossible. One example is the revolutionary ability to change the focus and depth of field /after/ the image is taken. Another example is enabling a new class of lenses that are lighter and cheaper yet have more powerful zoom and aperture than anything possible today."
Ng'sresearch won the ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award, the prize for the best PhD submission.

This is a waste of time and money! The focusing technology is already available @ www.visntec.com. They provide a "Constant Focus Lens" that frovides focus throughout the entire field of view so NOTHING is out of focus in the scene!
