Green Home Developer Sustainable Spaces Raises $6M First Round

sustainable spaces.png
We grasp the concept behind Sustainable Spaces. The alarm:clock wife is always asking questions that we have no answers to: why does our energy bill go up and down with neither rhyme nor reason? Should we unplug the 2nd fridge in the garage to save money? How much would we save from double paned windows? Our utility seems to have no answers for us.

San Francisco-based Sustainable Spaces has raised $6M in a Series A from RockPort Capital Partners and Shasta Ventures. Founded in 2004, Sustainable Spaces sells building performance improvement services primarily to residential but also to commercial customers, starting in the Bay Area.

The startup is led by CEO Matt Golden who was an energy consultant.

This seems like a tough business to scale. Its hard to image VCs backing an interior design firm for example and this doesn't seem that different. But Sustainable Spaces has proven to be adept at getting attention and we imagine well off folks are throwing dollars at them.
