Modular Classroom's Project Frog Raises $4M

Picture 1.png
San Francisco's Project Frog has secured $4M of an $8.6M Series B round led by Rockport Capital Partners, says PE Wire. Project Frog sells green, modular materials for schools. Project Frog was spun off by the San Francisco architecture firm MKThink.

The goal has been to provide components that schools can use for temporary building, giving them an option other than the standard temporary trailer classroom. We see these temp trailers at most schools so we are not surprised to read that of the 15M college students in the U.S. today, 20%, or 3M students, are studying in trailers. By 2012, that number is expected to rise to 1/4 of the total student population.

Project Frog's costs are approximately $125-$200 per square foot. A 760-square-foot classroom will run about $150K - $200K depending on features. Schools can make the units more green by installing solar panels in existing slots.
