Web Sites For Dummies' Wix.com Raises $3.5M

wix logo.png

Wix, a developer of an online application for creating Flash-based websites, has raised $3.5M in second-round funding. Mangrove Venture Capital led the round, and was joined by Bessemer Venture Partners.

Wix's paid service costs $9.90 per month, which gets you hosting and no ads.

Wix competes with other Web-based site creation tools like Weebly. We are always skeptical of momentum announcements as private companies can easily fudge them (accounts created but they never create anything.) That said, Wix says it passed the 200K-user mark, and is adding between 2K and 3K accounts a day.

This is great timing for Wix as the surely closed it before the market collapse and would we imagine have a tougher going with it today.

The startup is led by Co-CEOs Allon Bloch (former JVP partner) and Abrahami Avishai (VP Strategic Alliances at Arel communication).
