San Francisco Zeppelin Startup Airship Ventures Raises $2.5M 2nd Round

airship grab.png
San Francisco-based Airship ventures has certainly caught the attention of the Bay Area. Its hard to miss the big what balloon as it crosses over the bay, bridges and skyline. We have been following the Moffett Field-based startup since it raised angel funding and now says it has raised $2.5M. The company also has completed its maiden voyages and is charging roughly $1000 per head for a 2 hour flight. Certainly that's steep but if you are a flush big hitter it makes a bigger statement than say going to Napa and buying a $1000 dinner at French Laundry.

The latest round adds to the initial $8M funding from six investors - the founder Brian and Alexandra Hall as well as Esther Dyson.

The first flight was delayed by six weeks however, the startup claims to have flown 1,500 passengers and 800 are booked but have yet to take their flights. They also say they ahve plans are to turn its headquarters which are the old bachelor officers quarters at Moffett Field, into a boutique hotel.
