Game Engine Firm Blade Games Raises $4M in 1st Round

Blade Games has raised $4M in a ist-round led by California Technology Ventures. The company is the result of a merger between Digini and Vyk Games. The startup is based in Bellevue, WA, with development offices in China.

Blade3D is an low-end game engine and authoring platform. It will set you back just $14.95 per month for hobbyists and students, $29.95 per month for independent developers, and $99.95 per month for pro developers. It works with Microsoft XNA game development platform so you can port to Xbox 360 and Windows.

The startup is led by Tony Garcia, who was GM at EA up to 1998.
