Web-To-Phone's Lexy Raises $1.25M

San Francisco-based Lexy has raised $1.25M in a first round from KPG Partners. The startup is in the business of Web-to-cellphone audio transcriptions of Web sites and podcasts.

For Consumers, Lexy offers easy access to branded audio content to their mobile phones. For Publishers, Lexy provides technology to more easily get their content on to mobile phones. The business model is ad- and transaction-supported services making it free to consumers.

The startup was co-founded by Tony Levitan and Fred Campbell who back in 2000 sold their 7 year old startup eGreetings to American Greetings.

Lexy competes with Stitcher which has been up and going for over a year now.
