Online Ad Optimization's Dataxu Raises $6M In Stealth Mode

Dataxu (pronounced data-zoo) has raised over $6M in 1st-round funding, says PeWire. Backers include Atlas Venture and Flybridge Capital Partners.

The company is led by co-founder and CRO Bruce Journey, who was CEO of the money losing but prestigious MIT Technology Review magazine. Dataxu's CEO is Michael Baker, former head of Nokia Interactive and CEO of Enpocket (acquired by Nokia). The startup was founded back in 2007 by MIT professor Ed Crawley.

The startup indicates that they are focused on buy-side optimization, as apposed to the publisher side optimization functionality sold by PubMatic, Rubicon Project, AdMeld and others.
