Online Ad Startup Zadspace Raises $500K More For Ads On UPS Packages

El Segundo's Zadspace has raised an additional $500K for a total of $1.91M raised to date. The startup remains in stealth mode. Details on the funding have not been released by the firm.

We understand that Zadspace that "has invented a new vehicle for highly targeted and contextually sensitive advertising." The medium is not online but is rather out-of-home ad placement.

Zadspace doesn't want to tell you about their product but one of their partners, Professional Marketing Associates, has gone public. PMA uses Zadspace's "patented technology" to analyze the transactional data surrounding a purchase, generates a promotion for that consumer, and places a printed promotion (a "Zad") on the outside of a delivered package. PMA says that all offers are for complimentary and non-competitive products and services. PMA further claims that "Zadspace's advertisements have proven themselves more effective than almost all other direct marketing channels."

Zadspace is led by Todd Outten, who was Founder and CTO at Kedidi Wireless and before that was VP Technology at Sony Pictures. DFJ Frontier, Crosscut Ventures and Gideon Hixon Fund are investors.
